As of 2024 in Estonia patent letters, utility model certificates and supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) will be issued electronically, i.e. digitally signed in pdf format, and sent to the applicant or his representative by e-mail. Until now, the Patent Office issued these documents on paper.
But even now, the patent owner still has the option to exceptionally request the issuance of certificates on paper, should he wish to do so.
The registration certificates of trademarks and industrial designs have already been issued electronically from April 2019.
